Ceramic Snail Boxes
Do you think garden pest or delicious garlicky first course?
Fact we learned while researching these snails: Any snail can be either male or female, but it still takes two to tango. Also--and the snail ranchers (ranchers!) in France say this is true, but I don’t know---during the Middle Ages, the monasteries hoarded snails, to be given to the hungry folks during times of famine. Hmmm. That would be a lot of snails.
Our cute little ceramic snails are actually tiny boxes; the top of the shell comes off to reveal a space just large enough to hold a tiny treasure. You may choose either a single snail or the group of three. Each snail is about 2 1/4" tall and 3 1/2" long.
