Medium Blue Pintade (Guinea Fowl)
When we first saw these ceramic Pintades, we thought they were comical caricatures—until we saw the real thing. Now we’ve grown to love them and think they are rather stately. French artist Heidi Caillard and her son Adrien had pintades around the farm and created these delightful ceramic versions. The real ones are quite common in Provence, where they are raised not only for food, but also as “watchdogs”, as they call loudly to one another when danger threatens. Origin: Lussan, France. Medium size: ~12” tail to beak and ~8” tall.
