Cookies The husband and wife owners of Le Petit Duc bring a legacy of family interest in food to their extraordinary patisserie, Le Petit Duc, in Provence. Anne, from a family of restaurateurs from the fabled foie gras area of France, has researched history of food preservation, the use of sugar, and the history of pastry and candy making in Europe, discovering and updating ancient recipes from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries in England, France, Switzerland, and even from the records of the Master Pastry Chef to Albert 1er, King of the Belgians. Anne's husband, Hermann, comes from a family of master pastry chefs. Starting with these historic recipes, he creates the cookies for Le Petit Duc-and for us-using the finest flours and butters and the pure flavors of saffron, ginger, citron, almonds, honey, anise, chocolate, and the other flavors of Provence to create intensely flavored and intensely satisfying cookies.
